We source coffee from the farmers of the Munarya community and pay them directly, ensuring a fair trade that keeps their business sustainable and ours meaningful.

Cooperative Story

The Munarya community is situated near the town of Mbale, in the Kapchorwa region of North-Eastern Uganda, close to Mount Elgon and Sipi Falls.

Whilst no formal cooperative exists, the 125 members of the community Bean There purchases coffee from share resources and knowledge to produce their coffee. These small-scale famers home-process their coffee, and the parchment is then delivered to the community leader’s home for storage before milling.

Bean There first visited, and has been purchasing coffee from the Munarya community since 2024. The Direct Fair Trade premiums paid to these farmers have been used to purchase drying tables and tarps.
