The Ruthagati Cooperative is located near the town of Karatina in the Nyeri region of Kenya and is a member of the greater Rutuma Farmers’ Cooperative Society. The cooperative’s vision is to produce quality coffee using sustainable agricultural and processing practices that will ensure higher production and better returns to the farmer.
Bean There has been purchasing coffee from Ruthagati since 2007 in increasing quantities each year and through regular visits we have been encouraged by the improvements in the quality and quantity of coffee produced.
Ruthagati works closely with agronomy training institutions which aim to provide farmers with support and address issues of agricultural degradation. Bean There is committed to work with Ruthagati farmers to ensure that they receive a fair price despite the fluctuations in the international coffee market and the effects of climate change.
